OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES at ST. AMBROSE

There are many opportunities to serve in ministries at St. Ambrose. We support local, national and international outreach ministries. We have an Outreach Committee which meets two times a year to disperse funds from The Kids Stuff Sale and from the 1% of pledge and plate which goes into the Outreach account. The committee also decides on the next year’s recipient of the Walk the Second Mile with Your Neighbor outreach. If you are interested in learning more about these ministries please contact The Rev. Linda Vosburgh, Deacon at Linda.Vosburgh@Colorado.EDU

The Golden Shopping Cart. The shopping cart is left in the entry wayfor donations of non perishable food and gently used clothing. After the first week of the month these items are delivered to Sr. Carmen or EFAA.

Second Sunday Walk the Second Mile with your Neighbor Outreach. This effort donates the loose pledge and plate from the second Sunday of the month to a ministry designated by the Outreach Committee. Anyone can suggest a service ministry for this collection, however, you are asked to make a personal presentation during worship about the ministry the week the organization is the designated recipient.

Flatiron Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. St. Ambrose is a member of the Apostle’s Build Group.  Supporting this ministry involves a financial commitment to part of a local Habitat Build. The build is ½ of a duplex at 4700 Jay Road in north Boulder. Our commitment is for 1/8 of the cost of the house. This commitment is spread out over 3 years, and is met through the purchase of Gift Cards in $100.00 amounts for Safeway and King Soopers.  In addition to the financial commitment we provide ½ of a build crew twice a year, and make and deliver lunch to build crews twice a year. Episcopal Relief and Development.

In addition to donations from our Second Sunday Outreach in take we also support ERD through sales of Bishop’s Blend Coffee and Tea, which is a fair trade commodity, and support of the annual “Inspiration Fund Campaign”. This campaign raises funds for a specific project, and is also supported by The Episcopal Diocese of Colorado’s Foundation. The campaign this year will be for NetsForLife, which is one part of The Millennium Goals developed by Episcopal Relief and Development.

Sr. Carmen Center. The Sister Carmen center is located in Lafayette, and is a non denominational agency which provides emergency assistance for housing, and has a heavily used food bank. Sr. Carmen supports itself by selling gently used items in their thrift shop, which have been donated. We collect food for their food bank, and deliver the food and other donated items to them. In addition to donations of this sort,  Sr. Carmen also encourages people to volunteer in the food bank and sorting donations. For more information about Sr. Carmen go to www.sistercarmen.org/

EFAA - Emergency Family Assistance Association. EFAA provides emergency assistance to families in need of housing and other services. They provide referrals to other agencies in addition to running a food bank.   For more information about EFAA log on to  http://efaa.org/

Boulder Shelter for the Homeless.
